Yan-koloba is the creation of Emmanuel Ngomsi, Ph.D. An experienced educator and trainer. Dr. Ngomsi is the president of Universal Highways, Inc., a consulting firm specializing in cultural diversity training and team building facilitation.
An award from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) and the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation allowed Dr. Ngomsi to research African folklores and games.

Emmanuel Ngomsi, Ph.D., President and Senior Consultant
Dr. Emmanuel Ngomsi is President of
All World Languages and Cultures, Inc. a
training and consulting corporation
specializing in diversity education and
training, intercultural communication,
international relocation and language
services.
Dr. Ngomsi specializes in educating
organizations about world cultures, and in
promoting a love of cultures, respect for
diversity, and international experience.
Emmanuel is an experienced educator who has
taught French, Biology and Chemistry to
Cameroonians, French, and American students, and
served as Administrator of the International
Studies with a School District. As Professor, he
designed and taught courses on African cultures
and education, as well as culture and diversity
in the workplace. For two years he was senior
culture and language coordinator for the College
Semester Abroad (CSA) at the School for
International Living in Bratlleboro, Vermont.
Dr. Ngomsi’s career in cultures and languages
started with the U.S. Peace Corps where he spent
nine years as cross-cultural instructor and
Chief-language Coordinator in Africa. He has
also served as presenter at the Foreign Service
Institute (FSI) of the State Department in
Washington DC.
Dr. Ngomsi was honored in 1995 when he
received the National Foreign Language
Fellowship Award, from the National Endowment
for the Humanities (NEH) and the Geraldine R.
Dodge Foundation. This distinction allowed him
to pursue his dream of researching African
folkloric and games. He is the creator of
YAN-KOLOBA: A Teambuilding Game Rooted in the
Cultures of Africa. He is author of Cultural
Detective West-Africa and Cultural
Detective-Cameroon. His recently released book
is titled, SHOCKING CULTURES Hilarious and
Disastrous Challenges of Foreign Workers in the
USA, January 2009.
Emmanuel earned his Bachelor’s degree in
Biology, and a master’s degree in biological
sciences at the University Of Yaounde, Cameroon;
an Educational Specialist Degree in Urban
Leadership and Policy Studies in Education, and
a Multidisciplinary Ph.D. in Public Affairs and
Administration and Educational Leadership at the
University of Missouri-Kansas City.
Since 2004, Dr. Ngomsi serves as faculty
member at the Summer Institute for Intercultural
Communication (SIIC) at Pacific University in
Portland, Oregon, where he teaches courses on
valuing, managing and leveraging diversity in
the workplace to Diversity Managers of various
major organizations including numerous Fortune
500 companies. He is active in numerous
cultural, foreign languages, educational and
professional training associations, and has been
a guest-speaker, lecturer, and presenter at
various national and international conferences.
